Environment and energy
URC's goal is not only to promote sustainable development in our business operations but also to commit to achieving a net-zero emissions target by 2050, aiming to build a circular economy and a cleaner, greener environment.
We are certified and granted ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System since 2016 for our plants based in Binh Duong VSIP1 and Hanoi. ISO 14001:2015 maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system. Applying ISO 14001 provides assurance to the management of corporates and their employees as well as external stakeholders for environmental impact is being measured and improved.
We follow the same consistent Environment, Health and Safety Management System in all our plants in Vietnam. All our plants have a dedicated EHS Officer, who shall generally report to the Plant Manager and functionally to the EHS Manager who is responsible to ensure full regulatory compliance and assist the Plant Manager in implementing improvement initiatives.
We specially emphasis on the management and control of emissions to ensure that every production activity of the company is not only efficient but also environmentally friendly.
The use of dust and vapor handling systems in all of our factories is a mandatory standard at URC. We are equipped with the latest technology and equipment to control and eliminate harmful dust and emissions. This process not only ensures safety in production but also minimizes negative impacts on air quality.
We are committed to strict compliance with environmental management standards, not only in accordance with Vietnam's regulations but also in line with international standards. We understand that protecting the environment is not just a responsibility but also an essential part of safeguarding the health of the community.
URC has implemented the "Zero landfill" model for all waste generated at our factories with the goal of minimizing the amount of waste sent to landfills. The company has entered into agreements with specialized contractors for the collection, processing, and recycling of various industrial waste materials. Consequently, by-products such as tea waste and coffee grounds are used 100% as fuel for boilers or recycled into organic fertilizers. All ash residue is also recycled into construction materials, sidewalk tiles, etc.
URC continually strives to translate its commitments into tangible actions. As evidence of this commitment, we have set a target to achieve 100% non-landfilled waste by the year 2023. This is seen as URC Vietnam's journey alongside the community and the government to fulfill Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as stated at COP26.
URC Vietnam's factories, which have a significant water usage requirement, are all equipped with reverse osmosis and water reuse systems. These systems are used to optimize the intake of water and minimize wastewater discharge, thereby preventing losses.
Investing in wastewater treatment systems across all of our factories, URC has fully equipped them with advanced technology and equipment to ensure that the wastewater generated during the production process is treated before being released into the environment. This process helps prevent environmental pollution caused by wastewater and ensures that the discharged water is safe for the natural environment and the community's health.
With an unwavering commitment to wastewater management and water conservation, we understand that water is a precious resource that cannot be taken for granted. We will continue to strive to protect and preserve this resource for future generations.
As one of the pioneering conglomerates in the use of clean, environmentally-friendly energy sources such as CNG, LPG, biomass, etc. Additionally, we have been installing solar panels on the roofs of our factories and warehouses to reduce electricity consumption through the use of renewable energy. In operation, these solar panels meet 100% of the factory's electricity needs.
From strict adherence to environmental protection regulations to the implementation of specific programs and targets, URC not only emphasizes our products but also aims to be a model for the use of green energy. We strive to promote a sustainable, clean, and green economic model, contributing to the creation of a brighter future.
